The Role
We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to take ownership of credit control across both my clients companies. This is a key role in our finance function, responsible for ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices, maintaining healthy cash flow, and supporting positive client relationships.
You will work closely with finance colleagues, account managers, and clients, bringing professionalism, tenacity, and a solutions-focused approach to credit management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end credit control process across multiple entities, ensuring debts are collected in line with agreed terms.
- Monitor aged debtors reports and proactively follow up on overdue balances via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to support prompt payment and resolve queries effectively.
- Escalate complex or disputed accounts appropriately while maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach.
- Work closely with the sales and project teams to ensure billing queries are addressed promptly and accurately.
- Allocate receipts accurately and reconcile customer accounts regularly.
- Prepare and present regular reports on debtor balances, cash collection performance, and risks to senior management.
- Contribute to process improvements to enhance credit control efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist with month-end close procedures related to receivables.
- Support the development and enforcement of credit policies and procedures.
About You
Essential:
- Significant credit control experience in a similar role, ideally within technology, managed services, or professional services sectors.
- Proven track record of reducing aged debt and improving cash collection.
- Confident communicator able to liaise professionally with clients at all levels.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations with empathy and firmness.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Comfortable working independently and managing priorities across multiple entities.
- Competent user of accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and Excel.
